The memes of the photo are not always the nicest and pleasing. observe the three images to the left. At first these pieces put a sense of appal into one. A closer look can often reveal a deeper political meaning, or the want to evoke a stronger reaction. Then again how can someone swinging a golf club be take either of those ways? It's possible some have no care or respect.

Alan Kurdi is by no means even close to the only refuge of the syrian war. Many other families have fled Syria. Some end up in a similar state as Alan, but others are lucky enough to make it to safety. But are they happy?The video to the left shares the story and thoughts of a Syrian family that made it to safety. Reflecting on this video makes you think who has it better, those who died getting to a horrible new start where they are hateded by many and feel out of place, or those who have made it and now have to continue in this war riddled world. |

The choice to stay or flee is a choice many have had to make over the long course of the Syrian war. Weighing the change of injury for both staying and fleeing. That not the only thing that these individuals have to weigh. Leaving home means leaving everything. The poem "What they took with them", performed in the video to the left, illustrates all things you would what to take but the brutal reality the those in Syria don't always get the chance.
